High-tensile steel sheets (26-gauge; Shingle XD is 28-gauge) engineered to ASTM A 792 standards. The backbone of every DECRA panel — provides structural rigidity and the flexibility needed for installation.
Hot-dip galvalume coating (55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, 1.6% silicon) applied to both sides of the steel. Provides better corrosion resistance than standard galvanized coatings.
A silicon treatment that enhances the bond between the alloy coating and subsequent layers. Also adds flexibility, preventing layer separation during panel forming and installation.
Advanced acrylic resin primer applied to create the optimal bonding surface for the basecoat. Also provides additional corrosion protection and UV weathering resistance.
The adhesion layer that bonds the stone granules to the steel substrate. This proprietary acrylic formula is built to keep the granules bonded — even in Houston's extreme heat and UV conditions — though minor granule loss over time is normal.

The exception is the Texas windstorm (TWIA) designated catastrophe area — the 14 coastal counties and part of Harris County — where RISE always tears off the old roof before installing DECRA.
